Bali has become one of the most popular destinations for founders building startups remotely. The mix of affordable living, solid weather year-round, decent internet (when you pick the right spot), and a growing entrepreneurial community makes it hard to beat.
But coliving spaces here vary wildly. Some are gorgeous on Instagram and terrible for actual work. Others have great internet but zero community. We spent three months visiting every founder-focused coliving space in Bali to figure out which ones are worth your time and money.
How We Evaluated Each Space
We scored each space on five things that actually matter when you're trying to build a company: workspace quality (desks, monitors, meeting rooms, ergonomics), internet reliability (we ran speed tests morning, afternoon, and evening across multiple days), community (are the residents building real things or just vibing?), living comfort (room quality, cleanliness, amenities), and overall value.
We run a coliving space ourselves (Founder Stays in Canggu), so we're obviously biased. We've tried to be fair and transparent. We included ourselves on this list because it would be weird not to, but we've also highlighted what other spaces do better than us.
1. Founder Stays, Canggu
This is our space, so take this with a grain of salt. We built it because we couldn't find what we wanted elsewhere: a proper office with external monitors at every desk, 500 Mbps fiber (the fastest we've tested anywhere on the island), and a community that's exclusively founders and senior builders. No influencers, no gap-year travelers.
The villa has 8 private suites, each with a standing desk, ergonomic chair, and its own fiber router. The shared office seats 10. There's a pool, rooftop with views of the rice fields, and a fully equipped kitchen.
What works: the community curation is strict, and it shows. Conversations at dinner are about product launches and growth strategies, not party schedules. What could be better: we're smaller than some spaces, which means fewer people to connect with at any given time.
Price: From $1,200/month all-inclusive. Internet: 500 Mbps fiber. Best for: Serious founders who want a focused, high-quality environment.
2. B Work Bali, Canggu
B Work is centrally located in Canggu and has invested heavily in its infrastructure. The coworking space is well-designed with phone booths, meeting rooms, and a professional atmosphere that feels more like a real office than most Bali workspaces.
The internet is fast and reliable, averaging around 150 Mbps in our tests. They attract a mix of remote workers and founders, and the vibe is focused without being sterile. It's a coworking space first, but many people use it as their daily base while living nearby.
What works: the internet is genuinely excellent, and the space is purpose-built for productivity. What could be better: it's purely coworking, not coliving, so you'll need to arrange accommodation separately.
Price: Around $230/month unlimited. Internet: ~150 Mbps. Best for: Founders who want a serious, distraction-free workspace and are sorting their own accommodation.
3. Tropical Nomad, Canggu
Tropical Nomad is a cafe-style workspace surrounded by palm trees and natural light. It's one of the more pleasant places to work in Canggu, with a good mix of open desks, dedicated quiet areas, and private booths. The community is lively and ambitious, a mix of startup founders, content creators, and marketers.
They regularly host workshops, social gatherings, and networking events. The food is solid and reasonably priced. Internet is decent for most tasks, though screen sharing during video calls can be hit or miss during peak hours.
Price: Coworking from ~$100/month. Internet: ~55 Mbps. Best for: Founders who want a social, creative atmosphere with good food and regular events.
4. Tribal Bali, Pererenan
Just outside Canggu in the quieter Pererenan area, Tribal is an interesting option. The coworking space is a large open-air building with plenty of natural light and a relaxed feel. The standout perk: coworking is essentially free if you eat at the restaurant (you need to spend a minimum of 100,000 IDR, roughly $6, every three hours).
There's a pool, the food is good, and the location is a five-minute scooter ride from the busier parts of Canggu. It's a nice middle ground between being in the action and having some peace.
Price: Coworking free with food purchase. Coliving from ~$500/month. Internet: ~50 Mbps. Best for: Budget-conscious founders who want a chill atmosphere.
5. Bali Bustle, Kuta
Bali Bustle is in Kuta rather than Canggu, which is a trade-off. You're closer to the airport and shopping but further from the startup scene. The facilities are excellent for the price: 24/7 coworking with ergonomic chairs, a gym, pool, and an on-site cafe. The rooms are modern and well-maintained, with private bathrooms and free toiletries.
They've expanded to multiple locations, all in the same general area. The community is friendly and they run regular events, though it skews more toward general digital nomads than founders specifically.
Price: From ~$30/night. Internet: 30-50 Mbps. Best for: Budget travelers who want solid facilities without the Canggu premium.
6. Roam, Ubud
If Canggu's energy isn't your thing, Roam in Ubud offers a completely different experience. Set among rice terraces, it's peaceful and beautiful. The rooms are thoughtfully designed and the communal spaces encourage conversation without feeling forced.
The workspace is adequate but not exceptional. No external monitors, limited meeting room access. Internet was around 60 Mbps in our tests. The community tends to be smaller, more introspective, and skews toward creative types and writers alongside the occasional founder.
Price: From ~$42/night. Internet: ~60 Mbps. Best for: Founders who need quiet deep-work time and prefer nature over nightlife.
7. Canggu Hype, Berawa
A newer space in Berawa with a gorgeous modern design. The pool area is beautiful, the rooms are clean and spacious, and it's within walking distance of FINNS Beach Club and several good cafes.
The coworking situation is the weak point. It's more of a lounge with WiFi than a dedicated office. No monitors, no meeting rooms, limited desk space. If you can work with just a laptop, it's fine. If you need a serious workspace setup, look elsewhere.
Price: From ~$35/night. Internet: ~40 Mbps. Best for: Laptop-only workers who prioritize aesthetics and location.
The Bottom Line
If workspace quality and community are your top priorities, Founder Stays and B Work stand out. If budget matters most, Tribal and Bali Bustle offer strong value. If you want peace and nature, head to Ubud.
The most important thing we learned visiting all these spaces: the photos don't tell you much. A gorgeous pool doesn't help when your video calls keep dropping. Visit in person if you can, or at minimum, ask to do a speed test call before booking a longer stay.
